NEWS

We will try to keep you up-to date with the goings on at our yard with regular updates

February 2013 - A Successful start to our new Dressage season:

Nicola made a fine start to our new Dressage season on her new young horse 'Quite Easy', in the BD Novice 22 at Pachesham.  Here are the photo and report that appeared in the Horse & Hound magazine.

August 2012 - BHS TREC Championships of Great Britain 2012:

This year the British Horse Society TREC Championships of Great Britain were held at Hilton of Beath Farm in Fife, Scotland.  Bob and Moley (Jupiter's Gold) won the Level 2 Individual British Championship and this photo was taken on their return to Chalkpit Lane Stables.

The BHS Magazine, British Horse, carried a report on the event in their Sept/Oct 2012 edition and below is a cutting from this report:

Horse and Country TV have a very good news report on the event on their website and this includes an interview with Bob about their success.  Follow this link to read the report: http://www.horseandcountry.tv/news/2012/09/07/bhs-trec-finals-test-both-horse-and-rider
August 2012 - Olympic Surprise:

Nicola went to the Showjumping at Greenwich Park and what a small world.  She was talking to a couple  of the Mounted Police Women and explained to them that we had sold a horse to the Met. Police about fifteen years ago. After more discussion it turned out that they knew him.  Norman is apparently a legend with the Met. Police Mounted Branch and is everyone's favourite.  He was to be retired but had his service extended to have him available for the Games at Greenwich.  This photo shows Charlotte Dujardin (on a break between winning Team and individual Gold in the Dressage) as she meets Norman on duty.  Norman has the white face and is on Charlotte's left.

July 2012 - 30 year celebrations:

We celebrated our 30 years at Chalkpit Lane Stables by taking a group of our clients, friends and family to a Private Viewing Box at Hickstead for the Nations Cup Day at the Royal International Horse Show.  A great day was had by all:

May 25th 2012 - Facilities upgrade and Dressage update:

Good news; our facilities upgrade items are now complete.  The final item, the hot and cold water wash-down area, is now fully operational and is proving popular with the horses and their owners.  All the equipment and the water heater were provided by Kylix Ltd and the water heater was fitted by Norton Mechanical Ltd who are an LPG Gas Safe registered company.

Nicola and Mr Amati are now top of the Dressage Masters League (Medium) so we are hopeful that they have achieved qualification for the next round at Hickstead this Summer.

May 2nd 2012 - Additional Grazing and Dressage update:

We are pleased to say that we have now aquired an additional paddock to further improve our grazing facilities.  This paddock is approximately an acre and is situated right outside our front gate on the opposite side of the Bridleway. It is quiet and sheltered and easy to monitor.

Nicola and Mr Amati now have 77 Dressage Masters League Medium points and are lying second in the Table.  This should qualify them for the Dressage Masters at Hickstead this Summer.

February 5th 2012 - Update on facilities upgrade:

The work goes on and the good news is that the refurbishment of our Horse Exerciser is complete and we made it just before the snow came!!  The groundwork, drainage, foundations, brickwork and fencing were all carried out by M. Paterson & Son (Builders) and the rubber tile flooring was supplied and fitted by Claydon Horsewalkers Ltd.  It is a super job and most importantly -- the horses love it.

We are also making good progress with our new hot and cold water wash-down area.  The groundwork, drainage, concreting and brickwork are complete now (again we used M. Paterson & Son (Builders).  The boiler and associated equipment is on order and we hope to update you further soon.

September 24th 2011 - Jess has a good day at GBEC:

We were very pleased for Jess and Rockey Broadway this weekend.  After a great deal of hard work Jess Qualified Rockey for the Sunshine Tour Championships at Great Bookham Equestrian Centre on 24th September 2011, Rockey was made Reserve Champion in his Dressage Test with a score of 67.8%.

You can find further details about Rockey on our Horses for Sale page together with a link to YouTube videos.

July 17th 2011 - Moley Returns Home:

Great news today as Moley returned home to us.  He  has had a very nasty problem following an allergic reaction to treatment for a sarcoid.  He has spent the last two months hospitalised at Liphook.  He is well and getting back into work and he has got quite used to wearing the cradle round his neck; he needs this to stop him interfering with the wound whilst it heals.  Bob and Di have really done the best by him and we are so pleased that he is back with us.

June 2nd 2011 - Hickstead Dressage:

Nicola competed on Mr Amati in the Dressage at Hickstead.  She came second in the Elementary Class which gives her enough points to qualify for the Dressage Masters at Hickstead this Summer.

May 20th 2011 - Upgrade to facilities:

We are embarking on a programme of upgrades and improvements to Chalkpit Lane Stables.  We have just completed new stable roofs and have aquired additional grazing.  Still to come are new post and rail fencing, new non-slip rubber tiles for the horse-walker, a new surface on our car park and a wash-down bay with a rubber surface.

May 13th 2011 - Bridleway Improvements:

We are very grateful to our local Byways Officer.  After much lobbying and despite the economic difficulties the bridleway adjacent to our yard has been resurfaced and it is a delight to ride on.

APRIL 29th 2011 - Royal Wedding Day:

Just a few photos of the yard on the Royal Wedding Day.  We had the flags and bunting out and Diane and Pat went out for a hack to enjoy the lovely weather.  Jes is in the background just checking that they get past the bunting safely.

Hickstead Derby Meeting June 2010

Laslo competed in the Non-Native Coloured Horse Championships at the Hickstead Derby Show in June this year.  Finishing 5th he qualified for the parade and Supreme Championship which was held in the International Arena.  The photos below capture some of the excitement of the day and you can watch a video at by clicking this link

Winter 2010

Well, did we have a cold one!!  Well done to our team for keeping things going so well and caring for the horses during this difficult time.  And well done to our clients for battling through.

Josh keeps the hot drinks coming                                           The horses wear their winter gear and soak up the sun

Kasha just loves the snow                                                        Josh and Andrew go to the village for some milk & bread
Summer 2009

Unfortunately we lost one of our German Shepherds, Kayley, after a short illness.  Kasha, of course, missed her greatly.  We like to have German Shepherds to backup our alarm system for greater security.  So we found two rescue pups, Lilly and Sadie, who are now learning from Kasha.  They are a bit lively at the moment but are quickly settling into life here.

29th January 2009

Here is an article from the Horse and Hound in January last year.  My showjumper, Mr Amati, has changed careers and is now starting to make progress in British Dressage with my daughter Nicola.  I hope to bring you more news of their progress  this year.
